In 2009, several men from Uganda were serving as static security guards on U.S. military forward operating bases in Iraq. These men had left their home country to earn a living in a foreign land. They were not just security guards, they were also God's soldiers, trained as pastors to preach His word.
These men prayed for the Lord's guidance and direction as to what to do as their contract with their company was coming to an end. They sought His will. Individually, while living on separate military bases, they clearly heard God's voice and His direction: wait upon the Lord for He will provide a solution.
At the same time, a man representing a company about to start a new U.S. military security contract was on his knees in Iraq seeking God's intervention because everything he was trying to do, to provide the manpower required, was failing. He humbled himself before the Lord and asked God for His intervention.
Through God's direction and intervention, the man hired the Ugandans, fulfilled the contract requirements and made friends for life. To honor God's intervention and several of the Ugandans' requests, Light of the Lord Global Missions was created in the sands of Iraq.
Since the providential founding of Light of the Lord Global Missions, the organization has planted churches in Uganda; supported financially and/or provided security at evangelical events in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the United States; started and supports a school for over 100 children in Uganda; brought together Evangelicals, Catholics and Orthodox Christians in meetings to discuss their common faith as opposed to their differences; and is embarking on an effort to alleviate the suffering of persecuted Christians in the Middle East and eventually Africa by providing safe havens.
Light of the Lord Global Missions' purpose is to be an instrument, used and directed by God, wherever He chooses, to be His hands and feet educating, evangelizing, training, protecting, aiding and comforting His children who are lost, found, searching, wandering, hurting or being persecuted.
Our vision and commitment is to use the resources our Lord provides us to fulfill His desired and directed mission, project or program while serving, empowering, teaching, guiding, helping and encouraging individuals, families and communities to lead purpose-driven and interdependent lives with God through Christ.
